    ELDENBURG , William Paul ''Bill''

    Was born to Carl Frederick Eldenburg and Josephine Katherine Youngck Eldenburg on Sunday January 2, 1921, while his siblings were all at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He has lived in Spokane his entire life, graduating from Lewis and Clark High School in 1938. He attended Eastern Washington University and Washington State University before graduating from Gonzaga University in 1947. For many years he worked in the family business, Washington Auto Carriage Works. He retired after 28 years with Washington Water Power Company, now Avista. He was a supervisor of the underground gas installations, and retired as supervisor of the water systems. In 1944 Bill married his high school sweetheart, Helen Kirk. They have one son, Rick and his wife Karen, and two grandchildren, Bonnie and Robby. Bill was the youngest of eight children in the family: Carl and Ernie Eldenburg , Freda Watson, Marguerite Pendell, Pauline Hacker, USAF Lt. Col, ret., Evelyn Heyer, and a sister who died in infancy. All have predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter in law, grandchildren, fourteen nieces and nephews, and 29 great nieces and nephews. Bill was an avid fly fisherman, and he had a great love and knowledge of airplanes and helicopters. He had a private pilot's license. Bill was a voracious reader and retained what he had read. If you needed to know something about the history of Spokane, he was a real source of information. He enjoyed ballroom dancing and golf. Bill especially loved the time spent at the family cabin on Twin Lakes. Bill was a member of St Mark's Lutheran Church, Masonic Orders (Tyrian Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shrine, Greeters, and Jesters), The Inland Empire Fly Fishing Club, and Washington Water Power Power Trailblazers. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 24th and Grand Boulevard. Bill would want any memorial gifts be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Spokane
