    Lifelong local resident George Frost Jr., 83, was born Nov. 5, 1930, and passed away peacefully at home Aug. 14, 2014.

    He was the son of George L. and Sular Frost and attended Castle Rock High School. George served in the Army as a communications sergeant while stationed in Japan. He was a machinist for Weyerhaeuser Co. for 43 years.

    George enjoyed his retirement and loved sharing his life with family. He shared his home-building skills with his sons. During his lifetime he built four homes, three in the Sandy Bend area and one in the Rose Valley area, where he was an energetic Christmas tree farmer. He spent many winters in California riding his four-wheeler in the desert and taking long road trip vacations. George enjoyed attending garage sales, antique collecting and selling his wares at flea markets. In the last few years of his life he enjoyed playing pinochle with his friends at the Kelso and Longview senior centers.

    He married Patricia McMannis in 1949. They later divorced. He married Sharon Andrews in 1968. They also divorced. George then married Patricia Parmelee. She preceded him in death.

    George is survived by two sisters, Helen Johnson of Portland and Dorothy Adams of Kelso; his children, Vickie L. Jansen-Lamb of Longview, Terry L. Frost (Lynne) of Longview, Roger A. Frost (Debbie) of Portsmouth, Ohio, David L. Frost (Kathie) of Longview, and Steven L. Spicer (Tammy) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

    In addition to his third wife, Patricia, George was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Roy Lamb Jr.; and five sisters, Margie Stevensen, Mabel Berg, Florence Gustafson, Alice Snyder and Luella Latta.

    A service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Hubbard Funeral Home in Castle Rock. A reception celebrating George 's life will follow at the Kelso Eagles, 609 S. Pacific Ave., Kelso.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
