Edith Margaret (Gjersee) Abbott

Edith quietly passed away at age 97, June 20th 2012 in Gresham, Oregon.

Edith was born in Tacoma Washington on January 30, 1915 to Hagan and Karen Gjersee. The family moved to Seattle where Edith graduated from West Seattle High School in 1933. In 1936 she married Frank C. Abbott who was a minister at Highland Park Methodist church. She was predeceased by her husband Frank and brothers Harold and Edwin. Edith was an excellent homemaker and cook. She was active in PTA, election board and supervised weddings at First United Methodist Church in Seattle. Edith felt that everyone had good qualities and was never heard to speak a bad word about anyone. Edith is survived by brothers Richard Gjersee of Kent Washington, David Gjersee of West Seattle, son Michael and wife Laurie Abbott of Troutdale OR, daughter Karen and husband William Lee of Federal Way, WA. Edith has 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandson.

Edith will be inurned with her husband Frank in a private ceremony at Forest Lawn on July 21st followed by a gathering of family and close friends. Please contact the family for information.
